Salawas Durrie Udhyog
Salawas is a small village 20 kilometres from Jodhpur Rajasthan. It will take about 25 minutes to reach the village from Jodhpur. The village is famous for his Rugs and potteries made by local craftsmen. Salawas is located in Luni tahasil of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan .it is situated 12 kilometres away from the Luni district. Sardar Samand Lake is also a famous tourist attraction. it is 50 km from salawas village. The rugs and pottery Udhyog is running from generations
These rugs are woven on a loom using cotton or silk yam, goat or camel hair. These rugs can be used as carpet, bedside rug, or to cover corridors. They are using the primitive method of waving and use a spectrum of vibrant colours. It is more than 30 years old weaving industry in salawas.
The pottery community of salawas village is a family business run by the Muslim community of the village. The lump of mud is placed in a potter’s wheel and spun with a stick. The lump is shaped into a pot, vase.
Om Banna is a shrine located near salawas village devoted to the deity in the form of a motorcycle. It is situated in chotila village. The motorcycle is a 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet. On December 2 1988 Om Banna was travelling on the bullet and lost control of his motorcycle. He died on the spot. Police took the motorcycle to a nearby police station the next morning mysteriously motorcycle disappeared from the station and found back at the site of the incident. Everyday nearby villages and travellers stop and pray to the bike.
Nearby salawas, 20 kilometres from Jodhpur is Bishnoi village it gives a glimpse of authentic village life.
Apart from local culture, one can see domessille crane, rabbits, blue bulls, Gazelles, peacock in the village and ponds of the village area. Most of the wildlife and species of birds can be spotted around Guda lake.Bishnoi community protect the deer and wildlife. They don’t allow felling of trees and just use branches for domestic purpose.
